Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Prepare tenders and quotations. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Working at heights training. Type of glass/materials: Acrylic plexiglass. Float glass. Mirrors. Sealed units. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Curtain walls. Stained glass installations. Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems. Electrically altered glass. Glass baffles, smoke and sprinkler baffles. Heat resistant ceramics.
