Position: Wellness Promoter MHCB<p>Date Posted: May 22, 2024<p>Closing Date: Suitable Pool of applicants<p>Location: Moose Jaw<p>Position Type: Temporary<p>Start Date: August 13, 2024<p>End Date: June 30, 2027<p>FTE: 1.0<p>Hours of Work: 7 hours per day<p> Job Summary: The Wellness Promoter reports to the Mental Health Capacity Building School Coordinator and is accountable to a school division-level representative as appointed by the Director of Education. The Wellness Promoter works as part of a team to meet objectives of the Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) program. These objectives are met by developing and delivering developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming to children, youth and families. The Wellness Promoter is expected to spend 80% of work time in direct contact with children, youth, school staff or parents.<p>Primary Responsibilities<p> Training, Developing Supportive Environments and Program Delivery Develop, plan, promote and deliver universally accessible mental health promotion programming for school-wide and large and small groups in schools and community settings; <p> Focus programming and training on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to improve their own mental health and wellness; <p> Work with students, division staff, parents/guardians and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills, competence, and confidence related to mental health and mental illness issues; <p> Work as part of a team (e.g., school staff, students, parents/guardians, community members) to recognize, understand, and adapt to the changing needs of their community related to mental health and wellness; <p> Build and maintain strong relationships with children, youth and families, and act as a go to mental health subject matter expert for students, staff, parents/guardians and community partners; <p> Identify and facilitate access for individuals who need referral to specialized mental health and addiction services; and other community supports <p> Connect and collaborate with other MHCB staff in the province to identify challenges and celebrate successes; and, <p> Work under the direction of the MHCB School Coordinator. Research and Statistics Assist with evaluation activities and survey data collection for the MHCB program as required by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA); <p> Ensure all relevant documentation is in accordance with the Health Information Protection Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; and, <p> Ensure compliance with the SHA funding agreement.<p>Qualifications and Work Experience <p>Preference will be given to candidates with the following: A related degree, diploma or certificate in the health or social sciences field (e.g., health promotion and prevention, kinesiology, social work, nursing, psychology, public health, or early childhood development) or a relevant combination of education and experience; <p> Minimum 2 years of experience working in promotion, prevention and/or client-based services of addictions and mental health; <p> Knowledge of mental health and wellness, health promotion and prevention philosophy, strategies and principles, and child and youth development; <p> Knowledge of Comprehensive School Community Health; <p> Familiarity with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families; Ability to think creatively with experience in program delivery, along with public speaking and group facilitation skills; <p> Ability to build relationships and communicate positively with all age groups; <p> Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively; <p
